Chapter Meeting: On April 23, 1966, the Long Island Sunrise Trail Chapter, NRHS was chartered by the National and we have continued in existence for the next sixty years. We will begin to mark this event at our April membership meeting when Kevin Keefe will present his show DAVID P. MORGAN’S MILWAUKEE. Many of our older members remember David P. Morgan as the editor of TRAINS
magazine at the time of the Chapter’s charter. This show is a wonderful tribute not only to Mr. Morgan
but to the rail enthusiast of the 1950’s to 1970’s. Mr. Keefe will be delivering his presentation via Zoom®

Chapter Meeting:

In this month’s SEMAPHORE it is noted that March, 2026 is the 69th Anniversary of the shutdown of the New York, Ontario & Western Railway. The last time our Chapter had a formal presentation on the NY & O was February, 2024 when contractors rebuilding the front door to the Van B house severed the cable connection, we could not bring in the scheduled presenter via Zoom, and our audio visual person provided us with a show on the Southern Division (with some additions) of this almost mythic rail line. (A Zoom based presentation was made for those members not in attendance the following Wednesday).

So, focusing on that somber anniversary, We’ve scheduled a presentation on the Branchlines of the New York, Ontario & Western Railway.
