Chapter Meeting:

On July 17, 2025, your president, his wife and three other couples departed for a ten day cruise on the Snake and Columbia Rivers.  The initial country that this trip traversed gets as little as two inches of rain a year, this is the eastern Oregon desert.  These environmental conditions give rise to spectacular brown mountains rising on each side of the Snake River.  For the rail enthusiast, there are major mainlines on both sides of the Snake and Columbia Rivers.  The scenery was just magnificent!  I fully recommend this trip, which is operated by American Cruise Lines to anyone interested.

Within days of the trip mentioned above, chapter member Mike Yuhas, who is based in Wisconsin, made a railfan excursion to the same area with a knowledgeable partner.  His photographic results are as spectacular as the scenery.  And he will be sharing them with us at the May membership meeting.  Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and the Oregon Trunk Line will all be on display.

Chapter Meeting: On April 23, 1966, the Long Island Sunrise Trail Chapter, NRHS was chartered by the National and we have continued in existence for the next sixty years. We will begin to mark this event at our April membership meeting when Kevin Keefe will present his show DAVID P. MORGAN’S MILWAUKEE. Many of our older members remember David P. Morgan as the editor of TRAINS
magazine at the time of the Chapter’s charter. This show is a wonderful tribute not only to Mr. Morgan
but to the rail enthusiast of the 1950’s to 1970’s. Mr. Keefe will be delivering his presentation via Zoom®
