April 2022 – Chapter member Mike Boland who is the author of several books about the LIRR presented his topic titled “All About Grade Crossings.” It is a history of what happens when railroad tracks and roads meet and it covers from the earliest dirt crossings to today’s technology. Many of the grade crossings shown are located on Long Island, Massachusetts, and Florida.
January 2022 – Dave Morrison gave the September digital presentation regarding his latest book on the Montauk Branch, covering the stations from Bay Shore to Montauk. Dave discussed some of his personal experiences such as the Oakdale Station wedding and the Sunrise Wildfire at Westhampton Station.
2021 Meetings
November 2021 – The Guest presenter for the LIST November meeting was George Lightfoot. George showed pictures of the LIRR from the 1800s through today.
October 2021 – Member Jeff Erlitz took us on a look back at our beloved LIRR in old photographs. He took us on a tour along the Main Line from Long Island City to Greenport. After that, most, if not every, branch was covered, traveling in a west-to-east direction. Most of the images have come from various libraries and other personal collections. The era covered extends from the 19th century to the 1950s, with some of the later ones in color.

April 2021 – The guest presenter was Phillip Eng, President of the LIRR. Mr. Eng discussed various topics regarding today’s LIRR.
March 2021 – Mike Yuhas, President of the Wisconsin Chapter of the NRHS, presented railroad photography in the Midwest from a drone perspective. The presentation featured several railroads, primarily CN, UP, BNSF, and CP in Wisconsin and Illinois.
